Professor Dr. Fahd Adeeb graduated in Medicine from Trinity College Dublin, Ireland in 2005, and obtained an MMedSc with honours in Sports & Exercise Medicine at University College Cork in 2011. He was awarded the Royal College of Physician of Ireland Travelling Scholarship Award in Rheumatology to conduct research outside of Ireland for his PhD thesis entitled Biomarkers in Behçet’s disease: Identification of Signature Markers for Diagnosis, Treatment and Improvement of Patient’s Outcome, which he successfully completed in 2018. He completed his dual (rheumatology & internal medicine) higher specialist training (CSCST) in Ireland in 2016.
Prof. Fahd has a strong interest in Behcet’s disease and vasculitis, targeted disease-modifying antirheumatic therapies, connective tissue diseases, inflammatory arthritis and bone health. He was the recipient of the international European Alliance of Associations for Rheumatology (EULAR) travel bursary award in 2017 for presenting his research findings in Athens, Greece, and was recognized for delivering innovation in rheumatology clinics in Ireland by the Irish Bernard Connor Award in 2011.
He has extensive experience in research culminating in over 100 original papers, abstracts, medical articles including two book chapters. He has published and is a regular reviewer in many high impact rheumatology and medical journals, and is currently the Editorial Board Member of two reputable journals, BMC Rheumatology and Frontiers in Immunology. He also serves as an MRCPI clinical examiner since 2018 and is the Penang Convenor for the MRCPI exam.
He was the lead researcher from University of Limerick Hospitals Group, Ireland that discovered a previously unidentified disease, a new variant of a rare condition especially in North Europe known as Behcet’s disease, due to a novel genetic mutation that was present in three generations of the same Irish family, which findings have been published in the leading rheumatology journal, Arthritis & Rheumatology. He was appointed as the Head of Medicine at RCSI & UCD Malaysia Campus (RUMC) in 2023.

- Recipient of 1st Prize Award for Poster Presentation at the Irish Society of Rheumatology (ISR) meeting 2015: Resolution of deep variant morphea (Morphea profunda): A case series of three patients successfully treated with Abatacept (Orencia).
