Short Bio
Dr. Tan Kean Chye is a Lecturer in Family Medicine with over 15 years of clinical experience in a teaching hospital setting. He is actively involved in undergraduate medical education, with a strong focus on clinical skills training and simulation-based medical education.
He serves as the Director of the Clinical Simulation Centre, where he leads the development and implementation of simulation-based education to enhance healthcare training. Dr. Tan is also a Course Director for Basic Life Support (BLS) programmes, contributing to resuscitation training aligned with national guidelines.
In addition, he is an active volunteer with St. John Ambulance of Malaysia, where he is involved in first aid and resuscitation training for both laypersons and members. His academic interests include healthcare simulation, medical education, and the integration of artificial intelligence into clinical practice and teaching.
Clinical / Industry Experience
Dr. Tan Kean Chye is a Family Medicine specialist with over 15 years of clinical experience spanning primary care, hospital-based practice, and academic medicine. He began his career as a Medical Officer in Ministry of Health facilities before transitioning into general practice and later serving as a Visiting Family Physician in private clinical settings. He is also appointed as a Simulation Advisor for a healthcare simulation center.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Tan has extensive experience in healthcare training and simulation. He currently serves as Director of the Clinical Simulation Centre and is actively involved in the design and delivery of resuscitation, first aid, and clinical skills training programmes for both healthcare professionals and the public.
His combined clinical and industry expertise bridges patient care, medical education, and workforce training, with a strong focus on improving healthcare quality and emergency preparedness.
