Course Structure
End of Semester 1: 3 weeks of Break and Revision, 2 weeks of Assessment

International Qualifications not listed in the entry criteria will be submitted to UK ENIC for qualification equivalency assessment against Cambridge A-Levels standard upon complete submission into the application portal. This verification process will take approximately six to ten working days.

Our Foundation in Science (FIS) programme imparts a diverse range of skills and knowledge that lay the groundwork for success in the pursuit of a medical degree.
As you progress through your medical studies, you will gain a robust understanding of basic sciences, from biology to chemistry, forming the building blocks of medical knowledge.
We aim to instil an understanding of the clinical and caregiving dimensions within medical professions. This holistic insight equips students with empathy and an understanding of the human aspect of medicine, ensuring they approach their medical degree with a well-rounded perspective.
Progression Pathway
Upon completing the RUMC FIS, as an alternative, RUMC also offers a pathway to the BSc in Medical Informatics. Students who achieve a CGPA of 2.0 and above can progress into this innovative programme, focusing on the intersection of healthcare and technology.

Scholarships
- Students with 6As and above in SPM/IGCSE (or its equivalent) will be awarded with a 50% tuition fee waiver
Applicants may apply early for the scholarship with their interim results.
Scholarships will be awarded upon firm confirmation of results.

Foundation in Science Programme FAQs
1. How do I apply for RUMC’s Foundation in Science?
You may apply for the programme through the RUMC Application Portal. Before proceeding, please ensure you have the proper documentation prepared;-Â
- A copy of your MyKad / identification page of your passport
- A copy of your academic transcript
- A copy of your English Proficiency Test results (if applicable)
2. How long is the Foundation in Science programme?
The programme is for one year, with 3 semesters. The intakes are in July and August.
3. For the English Proficiency Test (EPT), would my SPM transcript suffice?
Yes, RUMC accepts CEFR from SPM, with a minimum requirement of C1. For students coming from IGCSE, the minimum requirement for the 1st Language English is B. Non-Malaysian students must sit for the IELTS paper with an overall score of 6.5, with each component not less than 6.0.
4. Can I apply to the Foundation in Science programme using my online examination results instead of my final transcript?
Yes, you may use your online examination results. However, once you have received your final transcript, you will need to email the transcript to RUMC Admissions.
5. As an RUMC FIS student, do I need to resubmit my documents when I progress to the Undergraduate Medicine programme?
You would not need to resubmit your documents. Your progression to the Undergraduate Medicine programme will be processed internally. Any incomplete documents, the RUMC Admissions will be in touch with you.
6. Do I need to make the final payment before the date mentioned on my offer letter?
Yes, there is a timeline of 2 weeks to make the final payment. Upon receiving your offer letter, you are required to pay a deposit of RM2,000, followed by the remaining balance of RM8,000 for your first semester.
7. Will I receive my offer letter after my final results are released?
Yes, the RUMC Admissions will issue a firm offer letter once you provide them with your final results. If you submitted your trial results and meet the entry requirements, you will receive a conditional offer letter with the only requirement to achieve the entry requirements.
8. What happens if my results do not meet the RUMC’s entry requirements after the release of my final transcript?
If your result does not meet the entry requirements, your application will be withdrawn, and the refund process will begin. However, please note that the application fee of RM500 is non-refundable.
9. What are the scholarship requirements?
