Dr. Nor Syafira Mohd Masri is a Lecturer at RCSI & UCD Malaysia Campus (RUMC) and a trained tissue engineer with a PhD in Tissue Engineering from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). Her expertise lies in regenerative medicine, advanced biomaterials, and 3D bioprinting technologies for skin, dental, and bone tissue applications. She has extensive experience in bioink development, hydrogel systems, in vitro and in vivo models, and translational biomedical research. Dr. Syafira is an award-winning researcher, having received multiple recognitions including the Anugerah Emas Kedoktoran and Excellent Thesis Award. She actively contributes to high-impact publications, interdisciplinary collaborations, and academic teaching.
Dr. Syafira has extensive experience bridging laboratory research with clinical and industry-oriented applications through academic and collaborative research initiatives. Her work focuses on translating biomaterials and 3D-bioprinting technologies into clinically relevant solutions, particularly for skin, dental, and bone tissue regeneration. She also possesses hands-on clinical laboratory experience from hospital and diagnostic laboratory settings, including hematology, histology, microbiology, immunology, and blood banking. This strong integration of academic research expertise and applied biomedical practice supports her translational research focus and teaching in medical informatics and biomedical sciences.

Dr. Syafira’s research focuses on the development of multifunctional biomaterials and 3D-bioprinted scaffolds for skin, dental, and bone regeneration. Her interests include antioxidant and antimicrobial biomaterials, injectable and printable hydrogel systems, angiogenesis and vascularisation, and advanced in vitro and in vivo disease models. She is particularly interested in translational strategies that integrate sustainable biomaterials, advanced fabrication technologies, and clinical relevance.
